Lars Bendtsen is Associate Professor at the Department of Neurology and Danish Headache Center, Rigshospitalet Glostrup, University of Copenhagen. He is clinical director of The Danish Headache Centre and past President of the Danish Headache Society.

Dr. Bendtsen is highly involved in the clinical management of migraine, other headaches, and facial pain. Dr. Bendtsen has actively been involved in headache research since 1991 and has authored more than 160 original and review articles in international peer-reviewed journals. His main research interests include clinical aspects and treatment of migraine and headaches in general and more specifically the pathophysiology and management of trigeminal neuralgia.

Dr. Bendtsen has been chairman and first author on several European and national guidelines including the European Academy of Neurology guideline on trigeminal neuralgia, the European Headache Federation guideline on the use of onabotulinumtoxinA in chronic migraine, the European Federation of Neurological Societies guideline for treatment of tension-type headache, the Danish National guidelines concerning treatment of headache and facial pain as well as co-author on the European Headache Federation guideline on the use of calcitonin gene related peptide antibodies for the prevention of migraine. Finally, Dr. Bendtsen has been actively involved in the development of the most recent edition of the International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-3).
