Michał Schinwelski, MD, PhD, - neurologist, graduated from Medical University of Gdańsk, Poland, in 2005. In 2014 he received Polish Board Certification in Neurology. In 2017 he obtained PhD degree for the thesis: “Prevalence and predictors of post-stroke spasticity and its impact on the activities of daily living and quality of life”. In the years 2008-2017 he worked at the Neurology Department of St. Adalbert Hospital in Gdańsk, Poland. Dr Schinwelski was trained in neuromodulation at the Schleswig-Holstein University, Department of Neurology in Kiel, Germany under prof. Jens Volkmann and prof. Guenter Deuschl. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, atypical parkinsonism and movement disorders such as tremor, dystonia, chorea and spasticity. In addition, he specializes in treatment with botulinum toxin and deep brain stimulation in neurology. He is a board member of Extrapyramidal Section of Polish Neurological Society and Polish Parkinson’s Disease and Other Movement Disorders Society. He is also a member of International Movement Disorders Society. Since 2018 he is involved in Allergan Medical Insitute Post-Stroke Spasticity Rising Stars Programme. Since 2008, in his professional and scientific work associated with prof. Jarosław Sławek. He is the author and co-author of numerous publications in the field of movement disorders.
