Marcin Bonikowski

 

Marcin Bonikowski is a Head of the Department of Rehabilitation at the Mazovian Neuropsychiatry Center (MNC) in Zagórze, Poland. By education an orthopaedic surgeon, he has devoted his work to developing modern treatment methods for children with central nervous system disorders. He was responsible for the introduction of multi-level botulinum toxin treatment based on movement analysis in Poland, and has helped to propagate an integrated approach to neurorehabilitation. Since 2003, he has worked in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Department of the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Dr Bonikowski has been a member of the medical committee of the Polish–Dutch foundation Wandafonds since 2007. He has organised and chaired several courses on the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy, spasticity treatment and gait analysis, and established the Movement Analysis Lab at the MNC in Zagórze, which he has managed since 2004. He is a lecturer at the Warsaw Academy of Physical Education, Poland. He is also active member of European Society of Movement Analysis for Adults and Children and was elected as president of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics in Poland in 2012
